Justin about the Orangerie

We stayed in the Orangerie in June and were instantly in holiday mode with the tranquility and peacefulness of this fantastic location. Our little boy learned to walk in the huge Garden (I suspect he was actually chasing the chickens that come and greet you and perform their daily comedy routine on the terrace... ;o).

The interior was immaculate and although we did a lot of travelling through the day, it was a haven to return to for a long leisurely dinner on the terrace. We are thinking about coming back in 2013 in a larger group as it offers the space to be able to holiday with friends but have your own quite time. Great for the kids with plenty of safe space. Grant is a great host greeting us warmly on arrival and being available if you need him through the stay.

With loads of advice and recommendations for where to eat and what to do already prepared and the high standard of facilities in the building you will want for nothing.

Loved it!

Natacha about the Orangerie

A little piece of paradise in rural France. We stayed in the spacious Orangerie. There were just three of us but there is ample room to fit 6, very comfortably, with a sizeable open plan living area complemented by two covered verandas. Plus of course there is a great swimming pool area and delightful grounds with plenty trees for shade. The villa has been beautifully renovated in a simple but cozy manner with charming beams and wooden floors.

The kitchen has everything you will need from a potato peeler to an nespresso machine our teenage son wanted to take home. Modern Ikea furnishings compliment some beautiful traditional French pieces which give the place a homely feel, without having to worry about accidentally damaging an antique or family heirloom. Certainly parents with younger children could relax. Great facilities. In addition to the swimming pool there is a ping pong table and badminton/volleyball net with ample space to enjoy these games.

And of course a smart TV with DVD player and Wifi access. We visited during the heatwave (38 degrees) and found that if you stuck to the advice about keeping windows and curtains closed during the daytime, the bedrooms were perfectly comfortable at night time. Although a fan was provided if needed. We particularly enjoyed being able to enjoy some of the country’s wonderful food outside on the covered verandas. The back one was also a great spot to enjoy the stunning sunsets and abundant wildlife from bunnies to bats. This is rural France so if you aren’t keen on a few bugs this may not be the best place for you.

It does mean however that there are plenty of birds. Despite the two other adjoining properties we found the Orangerie very private and peaceful. Everyone has their own private space. Grant and Christelle were generous hosts who responded immediately to any queries. Should you be able to tear yourself away from the Dezie domain there are numerous attractions nearby, most within a 45 minute drive, including Lascaux, Castlenaud, Brantome along with numerous other canoeing and caving opportunities. Supermarkets, ATMs etc are all a short 10 minute drive away.

We found La Vieille Dezie great value for money, a great location and would happily recommend to anyone.

Kristina about the Orangerie

Wow ... What a wonderful location and house! We stayed in the Orangerie with 3 young children and a grandpa, and it had everything you could ask for. After our long days out we could come back to the house and just relax at the pool and jacuzzi.

The set up of the grounds is perfect for children lots of green space to run around and toys to play with. The large TV was perfect for watching the World Cup, and Grant was so great to have fans for us in the hot weather.

The house was super clean and had all the modern amenities.

Just can't recommend this place enough! We had a fabulous vacation. Thanks!

Trevor about the Orangerie

A group of 11 of us (from Perth and Sydney Australia) stayed in the Cottage and the Orangerie from 4th -11 July 2015. It was fantastic.

We arrived to two welcoming baskets of goodies and Grant and Kiki could not have been of more help. It was quite hot at this time of the year and we made very good use of the two high quality swimming pools and the outdoor areas. The gardens were lovely and in full bloom. The surrounding regions were great and we obtained most of our groceries from Vergt and went into Cendrieux to get our bread and croissants.

The kitchens were well appointed and the large fridges with ice and cold water dispenser a godsend. We certainly got around in the countryside and really enjoyed a trip to Sarlat. To top it off we had a beautiful meal for all of us at Restaurant L’Abbatiale - Chez Julien (at Grant’s recommendation) to celebrate our daughter’s 21st.

We would highly recommend a stay.

Kirsty about the Orangerie

Had a wonderful 2 week stay in June. The weather was unseasonably rainy during our stay but the accommodation more than made up for this! We stayed in The Orangerie with our young son (17 months) and both sets of grandparents and the location is truly idyllic with plenty to do in the surrounding area. Julien's is a must! we went twice in the end! Would definitely recommend and hope to be back. Thank you Grant and family.

Liz about the Grange

Absolutely stunning. This beautiful house and its surroundings were just amazing. The house is gorgeous, more than well equipped, beautifully designed, with new, swish fixtures and fittings, comfy beds, fantastic rainfall walk-in showers, it felt like total luxury.

Until you step outside, and then luxury doesn't even come close.

The pool, the view, the lovely open barn, the barbecue, it was the most wonderful place we've been. It was hard to leave, and we will definitely be back.

Tim about the Orangerie

Since 2010 we have returned three times to this fabulous location and have stayed at all three of the properties at Dezie Manor. It has been great to see how Grant and Kiki have developed the properties over the years and they have done a wonderful job. It is impossible to choose between the three properties as they all offer the same luxurious standards throughout and beautiful surrounding countryside. Each property has a unique character, and we have wonderful memories of all of them.

Highlights for our family of 5 are: the cleanliness of the swimming pools; the peaceful countryside views; the shaded poolside areas with beds to lounge on; the brilliant brick BBQ areas; table tennis and gym equipment; the excellent bathrooms & showers, TVs and kitchen areas; comfortable beds and good quality towels and bedding.

Although there are three properties on this site you are completely unaware of other holidaying families as they have all been designed with absolute privacy in mind. Nothing is too much trouble for Grant and Kiki and any minor things we have needed have been dealt with swiftly. The friendliest and most professionally run place we have stayed at.

If you have very young children, then the Orangerie has large lawn areas which are perfect for them to run around safely while you BBQ. Our children were very little when we started coming here and are now teenagers and there is something for all ages.

We enjoyed walks and runs in the local area, straight from the front door and Vergt is a lovely town, just 10 mins drive away with a great Friday market and everything you need.

Cilla about the Cottage

We booked The Dezie cottage for two weeks with my husband, 3 year old son and mother and father. We had an early flight and Grant let us drop off our suitcases way before the check-in time, so we could go and explore the area. When we arrived we were just amazed how beautiful and perfect this place was. We have been all over the world, and stayed in many a 5* accommodation, plenty of which fell short of our expectations. The Cottage at Dezie exceeded our expectations.

First, let me offer some advice, on completion of the booking, Grant supplies the GPS co-ordinates, you will need them, I'm not sure that you could find Dezie without them, but that is just the first win! The place is perfectly secluded, in fact from the North the lane is unmade, so the route from the South (Vergt-Salon) is preferable, about a mile up the lane is a sign for The Cottage, you turn in to a gravel drive to the property and your holiday begins for real.

The Cottage itself has three bedrooms (two upstairs and a separate en-suite downstairs) and there is a separate converted barn with a fourth stunning en-suite bedroom. The details could describe this better, there was more accommodation than we thought and we were able to sleep completely away from the parents.

Outside is just what you need for a stay in the warm climates of Southern France in June/July. The pool temperature is lovely (c.30degrees) and there is plenty of space to sunbathe during the day and relax with a glass of Bergerac blanc in the evening. The covered area provides plenty of shade for those wishing to/required to avoid the sun, this was vital in the second week of our stay as it was often in the thirties. The hot-tub wasn't working, but really wasn't necessary for us either.

There is plenty to do in the area, though a car is essential, just take in the relaxing atmosphere and do as much (or as little) as you want!

The service provided was first class, Grant was responsive when we had minor issues and I would have no hesitation in recommending Dezie (though privately I hope it remains our secret!)

Annika about the Orangerie

We (4 adults, 2 children, 2 dogs) have just spent a week in this Villa and absolutely loved it. The villa is spacious and very well equipped with the most beautiful, huge gardens surrounding it. The owners are very helpful and friendly and very kindly allowed our daughters to ride their ponies free of charge several times.

The location feels very secluded but is actually a very short drive to supermarkets, restaurant etc in nearby villages. We went to the local restaurant in Cendrieux and were very warmly welcomed (including the dogs!) and the food and service were excellent.

The villa overlooks the owners' horse paddocks and myself and the children throughly enjoyed watching the horses play whilst we relaxed around the pool.

The location is truly relaxing with some lovely country walks right on the doorstep. We would definitely recommend and plan to visit again.

Dale about the Cottage

The cottage is beautiful, good balance between being well decorated with lovely vintage items and yet comfortable. The kitchen was very well equipped too with pans big enough to cater for the 7 of us. The terrace being under cover meant we ate outside every day, even tho weather was changeable. Special mention for the ping pong table which was a very popular addition! We found the location was excellent as the local town, Vergt, was bigger than expected with 3 boulangeries and a decent size supermarket and it was also reasonable distances (about 40 mins) to visit Sarlat, Domme, La Roque etc. Grant was very attentive when we had queries and nothing was too much trouble. Only down side to the holiday was we had only booked 7 days!! We'll be back.......

Rhian about the Grange

We have just returned from a weeks stay at the Grange with our Labrador.

The standard of this accommodation is outstanding in terms of décor, cleanliness and facilities. The location of the property is idyllic and peaceful with superb views. Shops and villages are a very short drive away. My partner is a chef by profession so we eat in rather than out so we are unable to comment on local restaurants.

Grant was very accommodating and helpful throughout our stay. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will not hesitate to recommend the Dezie Manor to friends and family.

Thank you Grant.

Ellie about the Cottage

We have just enjoyed two wonderful weeks at The Cottage at Dezie Manor. What a wonderful place. I can highly recommend a visit to this clean and well thought out cottage. We stayed with our adult children. There was plenty of room for 7 of us in the 4 double bedrooms. Two rooms are downstairs with lovely ensuite shower rooms, one separate from the house offering extra privacy. The two rooms upstairs share a beautiful shower room with a separate toilet. Upstairs was warm- we had a 40 degree heatwave but air conditioning units are provided to keep things cooler. All the rooms are clean, comfortable and beautifully furnished. Outside, there is a beautiful pool which was heated to the perfect temperature. Comfortable sunbeds are provided, and you can also sit out of the sun under the spacious covered seating and dining area. There is a table tennis table and table football to entertain you, and the garden is spacious and full of lovely scented plants. Grant was on hand to advise on things to do locally, and we were greeted with fresh bread, local pâté and wine, which was a lovely touch. We visited Lascaux caves, enjoyed some wine tasting and spent a day canoeing at Limeuil. The local area has plenty to do and Grant was able to recommend some very nice restaurants, though you must book in the local ones. Dezie Manor is a very private and peaceful place to stay. We would love to return.

Christian about the Grange

Our vacation at The Grange in mid July 2014 was the most relaxing break we have had in a long long while, Grant seems to have thought of everything and has put it all together with exceptional style and flair.

The main house and furnishings have all the comforts and practical accessories you could need, and particular mention must go to the top quality bathrooms and kitchen area. The jewel in the crown for us was obviously outdoors - a wonderful rustic covered seating area complete with sofa, outdoor seating and bbq all overlooking a pool and landscaped garden that blended into the surrounding area, all of which you have completely to yourself.

Stay here and unwind or go explore, either way a truly great destination for a holiday - truly hoping we can make it back for the next big birthday celebration in the family!

David about the Cottage

The pictures you see here do not do justice to how wonderful this place is! Myself and the family - 6 adults - spent a fantastic week here this July (2015) and could not find fault. The location is incredible, secluded enough to find peace and quiet but only 10mins drive from town and a supermarket.

The buildings are beautiful and rustic - whilst being fully kitted out for ease and comfort and Grant, the owner, could not have been more accommodating and helpful. We had rental car issues the day we arrived and Grant not only took us shopping to fill our kitchen while we were immobile - he acted as translator and spoke with the garage to help sort out the problem and then drove us in to town when the car was ready to pick up.

Wouldn't change a thing about this trip. (I even made a daft video of our stay http://bit.ly/1EjnJgE)

Anne about the Cottage

Dear Grant and Kiki,
★ ★ ★ ★ ★

You are right - all good things come to and end! We just have to resign ourselves for our return to a damp, grey and cold UK and that’s just our summer.

Thank you so much for making our special family holiday so perfect. I don’t think we’ve ever stayed anywhere before where the owners were so engaging and so much fun! Loved your sense of humour and the fact that nothing was too much trouble (even all the issues with the internet/wifi).

We look forward to seeing you again.

With our very best wishes,

Anne and Bruce

Grant about the Grange

★ ★ ★ ★ ★

We stayed at the Grange summer 2017; for us a first time visit to France. We were looking for something quiet but also somewhere that had a lot of things going on reasonably close to where we were. A pool was a must and exclusivity in the sense of not having anyone else overlooking or bothering us top priority. We booked the Grange mainly because of the large pool. Grant has made an excellent impression with his website so the choice for us was pretty easy. Not only a pool but also modern comforts were important as was the location.

The Grange is quite a spectacular building and the location is extraordinary. If your looking for nightlife, bars and a wild time, move on, this location is not for you, but as the website clearly shows if your looking for a relaxed holiday with the modern amenities as well as peace and quiet this is the place.
The pool is heated and at the Grange a decent size to be able to swim in rather than just splash about. The Grange itself is equipped with a great kitchen and all the rooms adjoin each other in this rather impressive L shaped building.
We spent a great deal of time exploring the local area. Our youngest daughter is horse mad so having 2 ponies onsite in the surrounding fields to fuss about was fantastic for her. Grant & Kiki really helped us finding stables close by where she could go riding so this was a dream holiday for her in that respect! Our eldest was looking more to explore the markets. Typical French each local town had one so we could go daily! Food and drink is superb in the area with many excellent restaurants at good prices within 1/2 hour's drive. The wine growing areas of St Emillion & Bordeaux are an hours drive and local Bergerac wineries are about 20 mins. A car is a must to get around but you have everything you need in the local town of Vergt.
For us we enjoyed the peace and quiet in the evenings, enjoying a glass of wine by the poolside.
Next year unfortunately the Grange is booked so we will be staying at the Cottage instead. 2019 will see us back at the Grange.

Lesley about the Cottage

On arrival it was definitely a “wow” factor - and the question -”is this all ours for the week”. Fabulous stay in July in the Cottage. Family holiday with six adults and two children (age ranging from 62 down to 4 months). Fantastic time had by all. We were fortunate with the weather and with the exception of first morning did not use the spacious dining room or lounge as the outside covered area was brilliant for all meals and the entire day. This provided shade for those that needed it either with the sunbeds or the two large American day beds. Could not keep our two year old grandson out of the pool which commenced within 15 minutes of arrival! It is beautifully secluded but close to quaint village for supplies. Felt like you were a million miles away from anywhere especially when absorbing the spectacular sunsets that we were fortunate enough to see. Thank you Grant for the pony ride for Cian on his last night and thank you also for your hospitality always contactable by email and attempting to get us booked into restaurants etc as well as providing other local information. Younger members of the group undertook a kayaking trip whilst all ages battled it out at Garden Karting nearby (go karting for the very competitive members of the group!)

Will have no hesitation in returning or recommending this wonderful place to others.

Fiona about the Orangerie

We stayed in the Orangerie in June 2017 and then returned to stay in the Grange in April 2018. The houses were both well-appointed and very comfortable. The surrounding countryside is nice and quiet, with a small town (with butcher / baker / super market) 5 minutes by car and the larger city / town of Bergerac and perigueux ~30 minutes drive away. We had wonderful holidays on both occasions. Grant could not have been more helpful: he was always contactable if we had any questions and was always happy to help. We have 2 small children who were 5 and 3 on our second visit and both houses gave them plenty to keep them amused: large grounds, some animals (horses / chickens / friendly dog), a private swimming pool and kids’ games. I would also recommend them for older kids as both houses had table tennis and table football available. For activities in the area to keep everyone entertained, we’d really recommend: Chateau de Castelnaud, the gardens of marqueyssac; Sarlat on market day, Bergerac and the Aquarium du Perigord Noir. All of these were great for both children and adults. We would love to return again!!

stewart about the Orangerie

We stayed in the Orangerie in June 2018.The whole building has been finished to a high standard and will comfortably cater for 8 people in four bedrooms. The area is beautiful and very peaceful and the grounds are extensive and are ideal for children to play in.We stayed 2 weeks and Grant was extremely helpful and was always available if you had any problems. The Orangerie is very well equipped and the kitchen contained all the utensils you will need.Bedrooms and bathrooms are finished to a high standard and the swimming pool was well used as the weather was good during our stay.
A car is essential as there are a number of attractions within a 20 minute drive and also some very good restaurants.Although there are 2 other properties on the site they are all very private. All our group thoroughly enjoyed our holiday and would recommend any of the properties for families.
My main tip would be to follow the directions carefully as the sat nav does not always pick up the property or the road.Once you have found it you will have a great time.

Frederic about the Orangerie

Stuart about the Grange

We stayed at The Grange late in August 2017. We had chosen to take a late flight to Bordeaux. Grant kindly met us at the neighbouring village. We were very tired from the journey and it was very late in the day when we arrived, so it was much appreciated when Grant met us and then took us to the property.

The property and it's position is stunning.

We have rented many properties through Owners Direct overs the last 10 years. The Grange was definitely one of the very best - if not, the best.

All the facilities were great and thoroughly considered, to ensure that visitors were never left thinking "if only we had this or that". The Grange has it all.

There was a fabulous pool, living accommodation and outside space with daybeds that were a major favourite - as we spent most of the days just reading, playing and swimming. Other favourites were the table tennis and vintage, french table football - brilliant and great fun!

The whole place matched the photos - so you won't be disappointed.

But for us, it was the total tranquility that The Grange offered. We have never had this before at any of the beautiful rentals that we have taken previously. The view out over the pool, the cottage-like garden surrounding the pool and the seating area around the pool were second to none.

A great place to stay and just unwind.

Thanks Grant.

Martin about the Grange

★ ★ ★ ★ ★
We stayed at The Grange in August 2015 and yes, it’s as good, if not better than it looks. Within minutes of arriving Grant & Kiki made us feel extremely welcome and were on hand if we needed them throughout our stay. I unfortunately picked up a puncture to my car en route from the coast but within 5 minutes Grant had booked me an appointment at a local garage. The quality of the conversions are second to none and it’s clear how much time and care has been taken by Grant over the last 11 years.

The kitchen and bathrooms are to the very highest standards but with quirky touches at every turn. The 1960’s vintage table football proves to be a real winner too. Wonderful outdoor dining space around the heated pool makes it hard to drag yourself away and what isn’t apparent until you arrive is just how tranquil this location is. Perched on a hill with views across the sweeping countryside there’s no passing traffic to spoil the peace and quiet.

Unlike other areas of the Dordogne the property is located far enough from the tourist traps to give you space but everything you’d want to see is only a short drive away. Vergt, the nearest town is a delight with a great weekly market on Friday whilst local villages of Saint Alvere and Cendrieux, as well as Les Eyzies are all well worth a visit.

Having travelled extensively throughout France in the last 10 years this is by far the best all round property we’ve booked. I’m usually suspicious of really good websites but The Grange is actually better than anything you can view in a photo – style AND substance – highly recommended.

What a wonderful place!!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★
I am writing this review on the last day of our stay and I am very hesitant about doing so…..This place is so great that we want to keep it to ourselves!
Immediately upon arriving (finding it was a breeze through the GPS coordinates supplied) we had a ‘wow! impression’. The place is totally secluded amidst a beautiful garden. Grant and his wife Kiki have done a magnificent job in renovating this old building. The villa is extremely comfortable with spacious rooms and best of all a large covered terrace overlooking the gardens. But at the same time it also offers the charm of its ancient history.

The surrounding area is just beautiful. The Dordogne area gets a lot of visitors but being in and around Cendrieux this is almost hard to believe. Yet there are many sights and activities in the region. Though we mostly stuck to exploring some excellent restaurants…..

Our children loved the pool and played table football for hours every day. Our youngest enjoyed the pony rides together with Kiki.

To sum it up, we loved everything about La Vieille Dezie! But maybe the best was the superb hospitality offered by Grant and Kiki. They really went out of their way to make our stay a memorable one. And memorable it was. We will definitely return!

Sophia about the Grange

We spent a wonderful week in the Grange and I only have good things to say about it; I'm not sure the photos do it justice. It is a lovely place to stay, a perfect mix of rustic and luxury. Grant and his family made us feel very welcome, especially the gorgeous ponies who came to say hello all the time.

Grant recommended and booked fantastic restaurants for us (if you eat at any you must try the one in Paunat!) and was always at hand to help out. We stayed in October and were able to be in the pool every day, perhaps grant organised the marvellous weather for us too!

Thanks grant and your lovely family, hopefully we'll be back soon.

Kevin about the Cottage

The setting is idyllic and the properties superbly designed and equipped. The pool area is fantastic.

Sitting in the hot tub at midnight gazing up at a clear starscape will remain in my memory for a long time. Our ages ranged from 23 to 77 and we all had a great time.

I would heartily recommend La Vieille Dezie to all.

Julie about the Grange

Stunning - we want to stay! The Grange is lovely and you have thought of everything I can think of!

With fabulous views, the pool is truly idyllic, kitchen a pleasure, if, you wish to cook inside and huge TV to escape and catch up on dvd's and very comfortable bedrooms are all superb! Your assistance with our strange questions and booking vets has been appreciated!

Truly amazing and we will come back!

Christian about the Grange

We were the first people to rent the DEZIE GRANGE for our family holiday.

When we first pulled up I just remember how amazing the place looked with a large swimming pool and surrounded by amazing views. It was so wonderfully furnished inside with brand new appliances and amazing modern en-suites to all the large bedrooms.

We were able to eat every meal outside and spent most days in the pool. Grant and his family were all so kind and would do anything they could to help us to have a perfect holiday in the Dordogne. I would most definitely recommend this to anyone who wants to enjoy the sunny countryside of the Dordogne!

Hopefully we'll come back soon! Ella Hill

William about the Orangerie

Just a short note to thank you for such a great holiday and house in a wonderful setting.

As you are aware our group of 11 people ranged from 9 years to 90 year old and everyone thoroughly enjoyed the week and could fault nothing.

You have my number and email address and would be more than happy in providing further endorsements to your blog to congratulate you on a fantastic holiday for anyone.

Sam about the Cottage

A blissful week at this beautiful house in July 2015 was just what the Dr ordered. The cottage was beautiful-the best holiday accommodation we have ever stayed in with comfy beds and all the equipment that you could wish for. We arrived after a few days exploring the region so some lazy days by the new pool and some night time tubbing were fantastic.

We then started to venture out and about a little with kayaking on the Vezere and the busy market in Le Bugue. The Police horse sanctuary in Brantome is also definitely worth a visit, especially if you love horses (if daily visits to the ones in the next door field to the cottage are not enough for a horse mad teen!!)

The weather was fabulous and the hospitality faultless. We are not people who usually holiday in the same destination twice as the world is a very big place, but La Vieille Dezie is the kind of place that may make us break that rule.

Sam about the Cottage

Thank you! We had a wonderful and much needed holiday. We have fallen in love with the region and will be back, that is for sure.

We love the Cottage and surrounding area and thank you for your generosity and hospitality.

Thank you again, you are such lovely people.

Piarina about the Grange

I can honestly say that The Grange is in the top properties we have stayed. I didn't think the property could equal the beauty of the photos in the gallery, but when we arrived I felt we'd had an upgrade. We are a family with a teenage boy and girl and there was something for us all to do. The setting is very special with a woodland to one side, pool and valley facing and the ancient cobbled wall of the L shaped Grange and loggia to the side.

The pool is heated which is one of our requirements on holiday and meant we all spent lots of time in the water. The deep wide steps provide shallower depths for younger children to play and a trunk on the terrace holds water noodles and inflateables for added fun. Beautiful fragrant plants border the pool and the children spent a lot of happy time trying to catch the wildlife, especially the hummingbird moth, which was attracted to this haven.

There is a multitude of seating options on the south facing terrace which has 6 sun loungers in the open; shade lovers and tired children are catered for under the loggia with its exposed beams, large wooden dining table and seating, a wooden bench for 3 and 2 fully fledged vintage style single beds! A fabulous place for an afternoon siesta. The house is very family friendly and has a quality, country style with modern touches.

The kitchen could have popped out of a design magazine. It is also very practical and well designed and I don't think Grant and his wife,Kiki, the lovely owners, had forgotten a thing - certainly there wasn't one thing we couldn't find and that goes for the whole house, not just the kitchen. In terms of the area, we visited a grotto (amazing), a Chateau (loads in the area going east of Vergt) and an alligator/fish place in Le Bugue with a crazy golf and cold water spray to keep you cool --it was 40 degrees the day we went so the spray was sublime. All in all this was a gorgeous holiday. I didn't mention the 3 double rooms but for couples wanting to go as a group, it would be great too as they are more or less equal in size and all have en-suites and comfy beds.

Highlight for the children was seeing a barn owl sitting in the road one night when we were drving back to the Grange. All in all this was a gorgeous holiday and we can't wait to return. regards The Broughton family

Jenny about the Grange

We have just spent a superb week in the Grange and Cottage with our extended family.

As a party of ten, spanning three generations, these two beautifully appointed properties provided both space and privacy beyond our expectations .... and the view from the Grange pool was just the perfect backdrop for the truly characterful setting.

Grant and Christelle were the perfect hosts - any queries we had were dealt with straight away and nothing was too much trouble - thank you both.

All in all a wonderful 'chill out' experience, which we could recommend without reservation.

We stayed at the Grange for ten days at the start of April and had an absolutely lovely time. The Grange was very well equipped and had everything you needed.

It was set in the most beautiful of settings and we never got bored of the beautiful views from the beautiful and private patio/pool area. After long days out roaming around France, it was always such a relaxing place to come back to....the rest of the world felt a million miles away!

Any concerns or queries were always dealt with immediately and nothing was ever too much trouble. Grant and Christelle clearly put their guests first and it was evident that they want you to have a wonderful relaxing stay - which is exactly what we received.

We would definitely return for another holiday and hope that we'll get the opportunity to do so again soon!

Gareth about the Grange

Absolutely wonderful! Just returned from 2 weeks in the Grange, we totally loved it. Peaceful retreat in the middle of nowhere, run by lovely, helpful people (& of course Dougie the dog) who you cannot recommend highly enough. Although the weather was varied, few days of beautiful sunshine and likewise few days of rain the environment led itself to complete relaxation.

Everything you could want in a self catering stay was available - fully stacked kitchen complete with dishwasher & ice dispensing fridge - 3 double bedrooms with great en suites - wifi - uk tv - table tennis - fussball table - heated pool which was always inviting - bbq's - covered outside area for the shade seekers (me!!!).

Local town is 5 mins away with plenty of boulangeries to get those required croissants in the morning, a spar & two bigger supermarkets within easy driving distance.
We found Bergerac & Perigueux to be nice places to visit & Grant was kind enough to place us a reservation at Chez Julien...beautiful food & wine

Will def return, maybe the cottage next time :-) 5*

Alexandra about the Grange

We had the most amazing week at The grange - you couldn't ask for a more beautiful and peaceful place to stay. The surrounding countryside and villages are delightful, if you're looking for idealistic France - here it is! So much to do with the nearby markets, vineyards and Dordogne river. The perfect French holiday.

We will definitely be back and cant recommended it enough. Grant was always on hand if we needed anything and extremely helpful.

Thank you Grant and your family for such a stunning holiday! Alex & Adam x

Karen about the Cottage

We recently spent a wonderful seven weeks at La Vieille Dezie. It was incredible to stay in buildings constructed before the French Revolution and yet equipped with all the modern conveniences of home, including a large television with a wide array of channels and movies available.

The setting is quiet and pastoral, complete with cuckoos, nightingales, horses and rabbits. And on top of all this, La Vieille Dezie is situated close to many magnificent attractions, amazing medieval villages and castles, great restaurants, and stunning prehistoric sites with 17,000 year old paintings and etchings that blow your mind.

The proprietors, Grant and Kiki, are the kind of people one would want as neighbours and friends, and their helpfulness and friendliness added immeasurably to our enjoyment. Several relatives and friends who stayed with us were likewise extremely pleased by the accommodations, the bucolic surroundings and the proprietors.

Simply said, La Vieille Dezie is a wonderful place to stay, and we recommend it highly, without reservation. Dr. James Alcock & Karen Hanley

Teresa about the Cottage

Grant, We are on the water this afternoon, motoring since there is very little wind. This is the Sandy Point Lighthouse on the northern Chesapeake Bay(usa). We miss the Cottage! Tried to find some Pecharmant wine, no luck! Very few Bergerac wines are exported.

We will just have to come back! We all truly enjoyed our stay in the Cottage. We miss the pony shows, the frolicking rabbits, especially the black one and of course, Dougie's visits. Great memories, Hi to Kiki! Terry

Nicola about the Grange

I stayed in the grange earlier this month. It was utterly Devine! The bedrooms are a good size and all ensuite and are furnished beautifully. The kitchen and living space are a great size and are comfortable. The outside space is great, shaded area, pool, large grassy are all great for relaxing. Grant provided a lot of equipment for games such as volleyball and badminton.

The grange is well located close enough to the town of vergt to nip to the shops in a car or on a bike and it still feels very peaceful as the grange is located on an access only road.We would definitely holiday here again.

Its perfect for families or groups of friends. Thank you!

Elvira about the Grange

We've just returned from the most amazing week staying at The Grange in La Vieille Dezie. The villa is stunning, both inside and out - really high spec, well thought through and with all the mod cons you'll need to make your stay easy and relaxing. We had 3 generations staying and it was ideal for everyone.

The location is stunning - in the heart of the Perigueux, surrounded by peace and quiet and the most gorgeous sunflower fields but all within an easy drive of the local town and it's amenities.Grant and Christelle are so helpful and always on hand for anything you may need.

Highly recommend La Vieille Dezie and we will definitely hope to return.
